While working as a lawyer at the Australian Government Solicitor, Josh developed a broad public law practice, principally in Commonwealth entitlements, taxation, and judicial and administrative review. During this time, he acted and appeared for various Commonwealth entities in State and Federal Courts and Tribunals.
Since joining the Bar, Josh has extended his practice to all areas of commercial law. Josh’s private and government clients benefit from his familiarity with the processes of government and his skills in statutory interpretation. He has appeared in the Federal Court, and the Supreme and Magistrates Courts.
Josh was previously an associate to the then Justice Dowsett of the Federal Court of Australia.

> Advised on subcontractors’ charges under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017 (Qld) and recourse to security under the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991 (Qld).
Corporate Insolvency & Bankruptcy
> Appeared in bankruptcy and insolvency applications in the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court.
> Acted in debt recovery proceedings, including recovery of possession under mortgages.
Employment & Industrial
>Advised on unfair dismissal and unpaid wages claims under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).
> Advised and acted for Comcare, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and the National Disability Insurance Agency in various disputes related to Commonwealth entitlements, including appearing in hearings before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
Judicial & Administrative Review
> Advised and acted for various Commonwealth agencies in general administrative law and judicial review matters.
Inquiries & Coronial Inquests
> Acted as Legal Officer on the Barrett Adolescent Centre Commission of Inquiry.
> Acted for the Commissioner of Taxation in a transfer pricing dispute in the Federal Court against an Australian subsidiary of the multinational mining and commodities company Glencore Plc concerning the sale of copper concentrate from the Cobar Mine in New South Wales.
> Advised the Commissioner of Taxation on transfer pricing and Part IVA disputes against various taxpayers.
> Acted for taxation authorities in disputes involving the assessment of income tax and land tax.
