Matthew Hickey appeared for the successful respondent, the Minister, in resisting an application for a statement of reasons for a decision to grant indicative approval for the transfer of a mining lease, under section 318AAV of the Mineral Resources Act 1989 (Qld).
The application had been brought by an environmental organisation. Bowskill J dismissed the application on the basis that the applicant was not a person whose interests were adversely affected by the decision, and were therefore not entitled to a statement of reasons.
