Matthew undertakes a broad range of civil work, with a particular focus on commercial and corporate matters. He acts for a range of domestic and international clients, including several ASX 200 and Fortune 500 companies as well as government bodies.
Prior to joining the Bar, Matthew was a solicitor at Corrs Chambers Westgarth. He was also Associate to the Hon I D F Callinan AC in the High Court of Australia.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland. He also holds a Bachelor of Civil Law with Distinction and a Masters of Philosophy in Law from the University of Oxford. Matthew was awarded a Clarendon Scholarship for his study at the University of Oxford and was also the Gregory Kulkes Scholar in Law at Balliol College.

› Acting for BHP Mitsui Coal in Federal Court proceedings for breach of contract and contraventions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).
› Acting for ConocoPhillips and Origin Energy Ltd in Supreme Court proceedings concerning the rating of land over which the APLNG Project is operated.
› Acting for a global coal company in connection with an anticipated Chapter 11 reorganisation bankruptcy filing.
› Acting for Sentinel Property Group and Satterley Property Group in Supreme Court proceedings concerning the acquisition of land.
› Acting in Supreme Court proceedings relating to the acquisition and development of mining tenements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
