Level Twenty Seven Chambers is comprised of leading barristers who are recognised for their expertise in resources and energy law. The group is set apart by its experience in related fields including arbitration, construction and engineering, corporate and commercial, environment & planning law, native title & cultural heritage and public and regulatory law.
Many of our barristers also have previous experience working in global law firms in the energy sector including a former head of a major firm’s national Projects Litigation team. As such, they are able to combine detailed knowledge of legal issues with an in depth awareness of practical, political, technical and commercial issues which arise in energy disputes.
Our members work with clients across all sectors of the energy industry including electricity, renewables, mining, oil & gas to nuclear fuels. Clients include oil exploration and refining companies, contractors, governments and regulators, and oil & gas commodity traders as well as their financiers and insurers/reinsurers.
Our barristers have appeared in leading cases concerning the grant of mining leases and the administrative review of decisions relating to mining leases. These include contested applications for the grant of a mining lease and applications on compensation.
Chambers has a number of experienced arbitrators and mediators who between them have vast experience of dispute resolution in the energy field.
