Following LawRight’s AGM on 12 December 2023, Level Twenty Seven Chambers congratulates Salwa Marsh on her election to LawRight’s Management Committee and congratulates Matthew Jones KC on his appointment to the legal centre’s Fundraising & Engagement Subcommittee.
Salwa, through significant experience in providing pro bono legal services and serving in a previous Board role, is well equipped to contribute to the Management Committee’s oversight of LawRight’s strategic initiatives to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals and their access to justice. As a past LawRight President, Matthew will bring a wealth of experience to the Fundraising & Engagement Subcommittee, which aims to further existing member participation in LawRight’s work and foster new strategic partnerships with pro bono lawyers.
LawRight is an independent not-for-profit community legal centre which seeks to improve lives of vulnerable Queenslanders through strategic partnerships with pro bono lawyers. In recent years, LawRight has coordinated 30,000 pro bono hours provided by over 800 lawyers from 65 law firms, 170 barristers and 140 law students. Clients seek this legal assistance under the organisation’s three branches, namely Community & Health Justice Partnerships, Court & Tribunal Services and Pro Bono Connect – further details about this work is available on LawRight’s website here. LawRight’s Patron is the Chief Justice of Queensland, the Honourable Helen Bowskill.
