The plaintiff was a former police officer who sued the State of Queensland and other police officers for damages for an alleged reprisal. He alleged that the police officers had taken reprisal action against him because he complained of alleged “official misconduct” committed by another police officer. The plaintiff claimed whistleblower protection for having made an alleged “public interest disclosure”.
The District Court dismissed the claim, finding that the plaintiff had not made a “public interest disclosure” and that no reprisal action was taken against him.
Scott McLeod KC and Matthew Wilkinson appeared for the State of Queensland and the police officer defendants, instructed by Crown Law. The judgment is available here.
