The Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) hosted the Brisbane launch of its ‘Expert Witness Information Paper’ at Level Twenty Seven Chambers on Wednesday 13 September by way of a presentation and discussion panel titled ‘Demystifying the role of the Expert Witness‘. The event was designed to unravel the intricate responsibilities of a Quantum Expert Witness and inspire the next generation of quantity surveyors to explore potential career opportunities.
Joel Glover (Secretariat) provided an introduction to the Information Paper, elucidating that its primary purpose is to create a uniform scope of service and clarify the quantity surveyor’s role when acting as an Expert Witness before a court or tribunal, as well as to embody recognised better practice. Drawing from their extensive experience, Claire Schneider (Level Twenty Seven Chambers) and Petrina Macpherson (Minter Ellison) then shared valuable insights into the role of the expert witness in the legal system, the intricacies of the expert appointment process and offered key takeaways.
This sold out event followed similar launches in Sydney and Melbourne. The full paper is available here.
