Daniel Perry is the Practice Manager at Level Twenty Seven Chambers, where he provides a strategic interface between solicitors and counsel. With a career in barristers’ chambers service delivery commencing in 1993, Daniel brings over 30 years of experience from leading commercial sets in both London and Australia.
Strategic Counsel Selection
Daniel acts as a central point of contact for solicitors, leveraging an in-depth understanding of the practices, expertise, and availability of all members of Chambers, helping solicitors navigate the process of instructing counsel with efficiency and transparency. His role is designed to simplify the briefing process by:
- Matching Expertise: Assisting with conflict checks and advising clients on the most suitable barrister or counsel team based on the specific legal issues and technical requirements of a matter.
- Managing Availability: Providing “knowledgeable and frank” appraisals of barristers’ schedules and fees to ensure a swift and effective response to availability issues.
- Ensuring Confidentiality: Managing sensitive matters where multiple members of Chambers may be instructed for different parties, ensuring that robust safeguards are maintained.
Experience & Recognition
Before joining Level Twenty Seven Chambers in 2014, Daniel spent nearly two decades at leading London sets, including 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square and 39 Essex Chambers. His appointment was a first for the Queensland Bar, introducing a high-level practice management model unique to the region.
His commitment to “outstanding client-service” is consistently recognised by the leading legal directories:
- The Legal 500: Described as “a most skilled clerk” who is “second to none in the Australian market” (2024), Daniel is noted for how he “proactively engages with and assists solicitors” (2021) regarding counsel expertise and fees.
- Chambers & Partners: Commended for offering “outstanding client-service” (2021), Daniel is frequently cited by clients as “a pleasure to deal with” and a “true asset to the set” who “always finds the right barrister…no matter how time-constrained or unusual the matter is“. He has also been described as a “highly responsive clerk” where “his involvement in managing matters sets Level Twenty Seven apart from other chambers” (2026).
Readership
Alongside his client facing responsibilities, Daniel is the first point of contact for enquiries from prospective readers (which are treated in confidence).
