Level Twenty Seven Chambers congratulates the eight individuals who were appointed King’s Counsel on 2 November 2023. We especially celebrate the appointment of Matthew Jones.
King’s Counsel comprise only ten percent of the practising Bar. ‘Taking silk’ is “only made after many years of outstanding practice, and on the basis of his or her superior experience, learning, seniority and standing as an advocate”. The full appointment and consultation process is outlined here.
Matthew’s appointment comes after fourteen years of practising as a barrister, having previously trained as a solicitor. His referring solicitors include top tier national and international law firms, interstate firms, Crown agencies, as well numerous mid-tier and smaller tier firms. His work primarily focuses on resources, building & construction, shareholder disputes, professional negligence and insolvency. He also has strong practices in insurance, intellectual property, banking & finance and property matters.
