Overview
With over 10 years’ experience in civil litigation and regulatory investigations, Josh has specific expertise in commercial litigation, regulatory proceedings and investigations.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Josh was a Senior Specialist at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, where he advised on complex regulatory proceedings and investigations across a range of areas including financial services, superannuation and directors’ duties.
Josh was admitted as a solicitor in 2014 and commenced his career as the Associate to the Honourable Justice Peter Applegarth of the Supreme Court of Queensland before working as a solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills. Josh has also worked at the Competition and Markets Authority in the United Kingdom advising on investigations into anti-competitive practises in the pharmaceutical sector.
Josh holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Civil Law with Distinction from the University of Oxford.
Experience
Josh’s experience as a solicitor includes:
- Litigation against superannuation trustees concerning breaches of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act and the Corporations Act.
- Litigation against large financial services companies for contraventions of the Corporations Act.
- Litigation against companies involving allegations of false or misleading representations concerning financial services.
- Litigation, both civil and criminal, against individuals and companies involving the misuse of funds.
- Applications to obtain asset restraint orders travel restraints.
- Applications to wind up companies and/or appoint receivers.
