The International Law Association will host a public lecture on “Data Centres, Warfare and the Law” by Scott Robinson of Level Twenty Seven Chambers, chaired by Major General the Honourable Justice Paul Smith AM, Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland and Judge Advocate General of the Australian Defence Force.
What will the lecture cover?
Scott Robinson will examine the legal framework governing cyber warfare and its implications for Australian data centre policy. Justice Smith AM will chair the lecture and provide commentary.
Applying orthodox principles of interpretation, Scott will argue that data is an “object” under the laws of armed conflict and consider what this means for data centre policy, targeting protocols and the development of cyber weapons.
In-person attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Who should attend?
The session will interest international law, defence, government and technology lawyers, in-house counsel, policy advisers, academics, and anyone interested in cyber security and national security law.
