Scott McLeod QC and Mark Eade appeared for the intervener in an application for judicial review of a coroner’s comments and referral of a Detective Senior Constable to the Police Commissioner arising out of the Detective Senior Constable’s criminal investigation on the grounds that: the coroner had denied the Detective Senior Constable natural justice; the coroner had made the adverse comments without any probative evidence; and the coroner was prohibited from publishing the fact of his referral of the Detective Senior Constable pursuant to s 46(3) of the Coroners Act 2003 (Qld). The application was dismissed on all three grounds.
The instructing solicitor was Crown Law.
