The Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) will host a mock arbitration for its members on Wednesday 30 March 2022 1730 in Brisbane.
The event will start with an overview of the dispute – a fictional factory extension where arguments about payment have arisen – and how the arbitration process works. The narrator will provide commentary as the arbitrator and counsel take the audience through a case management conference, cross-examination of witnesses and oral closing submissions.
The mock arbitration participants are constituted of practitioners with in-depth experience of construction arbitrations. Michael Trim and Anthony Messina (Level Twenty Seven Chambers) will play the barrister roles, Chartered Arbitrator Russell Thirgood will act as the arbitrator and construction solicitor Kirsty Smith (Holding Redlich) will be the dispute’s narrator.
